Spotlight on Hope: Cierra’s Success

contributed by Mary Lesser

Cierra was born with PWS. We did not get a diagnosis until she was about 5. Cierra is a 30-year-old happy, fun, energetic person, Cierra has a great sense of humor and loves animals and children. Cierra graduated high school and Vo tech with a diploma in childcare. She has 2 nephews that she loves dearly and takes good care of. She loves taking them to water parks and the pool. She has also worked in day care centers. She has a dog named Gizmo who keeps her busy. She also likes to work out at Plant Fitness with her trainer Sammi. Cierra also enjoys fishing and buys her license every year. Cierra lives with a roommate and 24-hour staff. She loves being independent. Some of her other activities include Special Olympics, where she has participated in basketball for the past 10 at least years. And she is really good! She started playing flag football this past year. And is finishing up bowling next month. Cierra also likes to volunteer in her community. She loves any new opportunity to meet new people. Cierra will be attending her first PWS conference this year in Phoenix Arizonia. She already has her swimsuit packed and is ready for the water park!
