About the Conference

The Hyperphagia Conference will feature top international scientists in the field of appetite and obesity research. Over the three day conference, participants will present the latest information on various aspects of appetite control including:

Intracellular nutrient control of hunger Common and novel genetic causes of hyperphagia Animal and cell models of hyperphagia Addictive behavior and hyperphagia Novel investigative approaches to study hyperphagia

The conference will also feature panel discussions of the pros and cons of certain treatment avenues for hyperphagia. Finally, the scientists will address "Challenge Questions" and develop recommendations for the research agenda.

26th Annual PWSA (USA) General Scientific Conference

Immediately following the Friday morning session of the Hyperphagia Conference, PWSA (USA) will host the 26th Annual PWSA (USA) General Scientific Conference for an afternoon conference session and an evening reception on Friday and a Saturday morning conference session. This conference addresses the many unique scientific issues related to Prader-Willi syndrome with presentations of research from world renowned scientists in the fields of genetics, neurology, endocrinology and psychology. The opportunity to study the issues of Prader-Willi syndrome will be a perfect compliment to the Hyperphagia conference.

Annual Providers Conference

Friday, October 19, 2012 from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

PWSA (USA) will host its annual Providers Conference concurrent with the 2nd International Hyperphagia Conference. Beginning with an all-day session on Thursday, October 18th and continuing through the morning session on Friday, October 19th, this conference addresses the many unique support issues related to Prader-Willi syndrome. The provider program will include informative and interesting presentations on medication management, sensory integration, and optimal training curricula for caregivers supporting those with PWS. Providers will have plenty of opportunities to engage each other and contribute to group problem solving of issues facing each of us. This conference is a “must attend” for residential providers, day program providers, supported employment staff and others who provide services to people with PWS.
